Developing our young to meet and exceed the demands and challenges of an ever evolving future…

Dream it.

Go ahead and believe in yourself. Believe in yourself right now. See that future version of yourself being excellent and doing all kinds of great stuff and claim that it’s true. Keep in mind that some want it, those who dream it, and those who simply do it. Life is not enjoyed by being busy over everything in general, but being passionate about one thing in particular. Always focus on that one thing. When all your efforts are channeled through a common canal for progress, no condition can alter a single sentence of your success story! Dream it; Drive it; Be in focus

Build it.

Generally, there are two types of people, those who see and seek gaps and those that recognize and discover bridges; the first stops and stays put, while the second crosses and reaches new worlds. As soon as your mind identifies the bridge, the gap disappears because your perception shifted, and now you know that the bridge was always there. You just had to recognize it. Believing there is a bridge from where you are to where you want to go is 99% of the battle. The other 1% is to cross it. But do I have to build the bridge? Perhaps. We must learn to build from the inside out and resist the notion that the things we make; start outside and work inward. Everything is first created in the mind and then in the world. The bridge is always present; build it inward and manifest it outward. See it. Cross it.

Grow it.

Follow and cultivate your own curiosity. Curiosity is one of the top two or three human characteristics. Plant your tiny seeds and keep watering them every day. Be like seeds; do not see dirt thrown at you as your enemy, but as ground to grow. Do not get attatched to the world as it is. Because the world is changing something new is coming. There will always be haters. And the more you grow the more they hate; the more they hate the more you grow. Only in art will the lion lie down with the lamb, and the rose grow without thorns. One cannot grow without pain. One cannot improve without it. Suffering drives us to achieve great things. Remember, the reward of a work is to have produced it; the reward of effort is to have grown by it.

“Education, in the broadest of truest sense, will make an individual seek to help all people, regardless of race, regardless of color, regardless of condition... Since new developments are the products of a creative mind, we must therefore stimulate and encourage that type of mind in every way possible... No individual has any right to come into the world and go out of it without leaving something behind. Fear of something is at the root of hate for others, and hate within will eventually destroy the hater. When our thoughts – which bring actions – are filled with hate against anyone, Negro or white, we are in a living hell. That is as real as hell will ever be.”

— George Washington Carver

“The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them... One had better die fighting against injustice than die like a dog or a rat in a trap... I’d rather go down in history as one lone Negro who dared to tell the government that it had done a dastardly thing than to save my skin by taking back what I said.”

— Ida B. Wells

“Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”

Maya Angelou

“Though the colored man is no longer subject to be bought and sold, he is still surrounded by an adverse sentiment which fetters all his movements. In his downward course he meets with no resistance, but his course upward is resented and resisted at every step of his progress. If he comes in ignorance, rags, and wretchedness, he conforms to the popular belief of his character, and in that character he is welcome. But if he shall come as a gentleman, a scholar, and a statesman, he is hailed as a contradiction to the national faith concerning his race, and his coming is resented as impudence. In the one case he may provoke contempt and derision, but in the other he is an affront to pride and provokes malice. Let him do what he will, there is at present, therefore, no escape for him. The color line meets him everywhere, and in a measure shuts him out from all respectable and profitable trades and callings.”

— Frederick Douglass

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.”
Maya Angelou
